About the Authors

Richard F. Cross, CPP, is owner and principal of Risk Management Group, a security consulting firm based in Loudon, Tennessee. He has more than 40 years’ experience in the private sector, including consulting engagements with corporations and financial institutions worldwide. He is a past president of ASIS International. Following service in the Central Intelligence Agency, where he was trained in all aspects of security, Mr. Cross entered the private sector with senior security management positions at the Institute for Defense Analysis and the Bank of New York. As a consultant, he has conducted risk assessments, compiled written security procedures, and developed innovate training modules for clients. After break up of the former Soviet Union, he provided security training for Russian private security executives. He is the author of the Sheshunoff publications Bank Security Desk Reference, Branch Security Reference and Training Manual, NAFCU’s Security Manual for Credit Unions, and Corporate Security Desk Reference, and the Internet-based training program Bank Security Essentials. He is the co-author of Sheshunoff’s Self-Paced Security and Fraud Training for Banks and Self-Paced Security and Fraud Training for Credit Unions.

Lauri A. Kingsbury retired from the Detroit Police Department’s Crime Prevention Section in 1997. Since then, she has conducted vulnerability assessments, organizational diagnoses, and training seminars for public and private organizations in the U.S., India, and South America. Her work on security for Bolivia’s Cultural Patrimony included developing policy and procedure and teaching on behalf of the Bolivian Vice Ministry of Culture. In September 2003, her book, Seguridad Preventiva: Métodos para prevenir y evitar robos, was published in La Paz, Bolivia. For this work she received Bolivia’s Medal of Merit (Civilian), making her one of the first two foreign citizens to receive such distinction. More recently, the U.S. Department of State sent her to Baghdad to develop the security plan for the Iraqi Museum.

Arthur A. Kingsbury (Ph.D., CPP) developed through Fulbright research the methods for securing Bolivia’s cultural patrimony, which were adopted as policy and implemented throughout the country. In October 2003, he received Bolivia’s Medal of Merit (Civilian) for his efforts, one of the first two foreign citizens to receive such distinction. In 2004, the U.S. Department of State sent him to Baghdad to develop the security plan for the Iraqi Museum. He has served ASIS International in many capacities at the national level. For over 30 years, he was the Associate Dean of Business, Finance, and Culinary Arts at Macomb Community College. Dr. Kingsbury has written over 4,000 security and organizational diagnoses for organizations worldwide and now provides expert testimony in law cases regarding premise liability.
