About the Authors

Patsy Parkin is a consultant, specializing in bank regulatory compliance, to the law firm of Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens & Cannada in Jackson, Mississippi. Formerly, she was vice president and compliance officer with Deposit Guaranty Corp., where she was responsible for maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations and conducting internal training. Mrs. Parkin conducts monthly training for the Mississippi Regulatory Compliance Group, and is the author of the Real Estate Lending Compliance Manual.

Edward A. Wilmesherr is a partner in the law firm of Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens & Cannada. His emphasis is in banking and commercial law. He was a staff counsel to Deposit Guaranty National Bank (1973–1979) and assistant general counsel to the same bank (1979–1985). Mr. Wilmesherr is a member of the Hinds County Bar Association, the Mississippi State Bar Association, the American Bar Association (Corporation, Banking and Business Law Section and ABA Banking Law and Consumer Finance Committees), and the Mississippi Bankruptcy Conference (president, 1983–1984). He was a member of the Mississippi Bankers’ Association Attorneys Committee (1985–1992) and the Mississippi State Bar Financial Institutions Committee (chairman 1988, 1990, 1991). Mr. Wilmesherr has been selected for listing in Outstanding Lawyers in America and Who’s Who in Mississippi. He is also author of the Mississippi Regulatory Compliance Group’s MRCG Compliance Manual as well as manuals addressing such issues as bank security procedures, bank audit procedures, and Community Reinvestment Act compliance.
