The increasing use of PCs and Local Area Networks (LANs) combined with rapid technology changes for Internet banking and e-commerce have made it harder for most managers to monitor and control their bank’s information systems. This makes exposure to risk even greater since regulators and management are now more concerned about system security and integrity.
This manual helps you reestablish the control you need. And you’ll find critical information and guidance to help you be prepared as technology continues to change. The manual makes it easier for you to satisfy your examiners’ concerns and meet the expectations of your bank’s senior management and board of directors. For example, you get clear guidance to:
- Implement a formalized PC and LAN administration process
- Tailor sample PC/LAN policies and procedures to your specific needs
- Adapt new PC/LAN technologies to evolving business plans and growth
- Train your department or your whole bank to follow your PC/LAN policies
- Create an Administrator’s Manual to guide PC and LAN operations bankwide
- Develop User Manuals for the different end-users of your bank’s PC/LAN systems
- Understand risk assessment and the related tools
- Use our samples to prepare reports for your management and examiners
- Use the accompanying CD, our sample policies and procedures, checklists, management reports, and the Administrator and User Manuals for your specific needs
