The Basel III Phase-in schedule will begin January 1st, 2013, but are you aware of the impact it will have on Community Banks? The federal regulatory agencies have issued three new Notices of Proposed Rulemaking related to capital:
1. Basel III NPR
2. Standardized Approach NPR
3. Advanced Approaches and Market Risk NPR
Comments are due for all three of these NPRs on or before September 7, 2012, so make sure you know all the details today before they start applying direction to all institutions, including institutions will assets under $1B. You’ll be expected to develop plans to meet the Basel III phase-in requirements.
